Willie Reece Obituary (2009) - Kalamazoo, MI - Kalamazoo Gazette

Mr. Willie B. Reece peacefully departed this life on Monday, December 29, 2008, after a valiant fight of a long illness at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pickensville, Alabama, on September 29, 1957. He was the son of Willie "Pops" Anderson and Lue Della Reece. Willie was a lifetime resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan and graduated from Loy Norrix High School, in 1976, where he excelled in basketball. He was employed with the Kalamazoo Public Schools for over 24 years as a Bus Driver and later, he received his Electricians Degree and became a Licensed
Electrician. Willie served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard, for 23 years. He was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Young Adult Usher Board. Willie re-dedicated his life to the Lord and was re-baptized by Reverend J. Louis Felton, in 2005. On October 21, 2006, he was wed in Holy Matrimony to Irene Morris. Willie is survived by his wife, Irene Reece; four sisters, Sadie Hayes, Elenora Hayes, Evelyn McCoy, and Kimberly A. Reece; one brother, Lorenzo Reece; five children, Jamila (Jamor) Reece-James, Omar (Terri) Reece, Shameenah Reece, Dequan Bowden, and Patrice Bowden; six grandchildren, Dominique, Deisiana, Ariana, Anika, Jamor, and Little Willie; three aunts, Mrs. Lessie T. (Charlie C.) Jones, Mrs. Vera Lee Reece, Mrs. Mary Louise (Isaac) Stewart and one uncle, Mr. J.B. Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and two very special in-laws, mother-in-law, Rosie Cruz and sister-in-law, Sherry Coffey-Ezell. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, biological father, Joe Louis Cockrell and Lue Della Reece.
